Cherie was born and raised in the Kansas City area. She grew up around horses and enjoyed barrel racing. She was a small animal technician for 4 years prior to joining Strain Equine in 2009 as a technician and then moved to the office. When she is not at the clinic she enjoys spending time with her twin daughters Abigayle and Mackenzine, husband Nick and their herd of horses.
Kelly grew up near Chicago, IL. She met Dr. Sean Strain while he was doing his internship in Illinois. After Dr. Strain’s internship was over, she moved to Maine with him and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maine. In 2007, Kelly and Sean got married and a few months later, opened Strain Equine Services. Kelly has 2 children, Kaitlyn and Callen, and a lab named Rye. When she has free time, she enjoys going to the gym, spending time with family, reading and hiking.
Alexa was originally raised in New Jersey, she moved to Kansas 5 years ago after her great grandmother passed away. In 2015 she graduated from Tonganoxie High School and pursued a career in nursing. While in college she got a job as an emergency room technician. Alexa worked there for 2 years, before deciding to change her career path and leave human healthcare all together. She joined Strain Equine Services in summer of 2017 to fulfill her love for horses and taking care of animals. When she is not working, she loves to spend time on the farm with her two dachshunds, Pappi and Apollo, and Pepper along with her two horses, Hope and Blaze.
Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Brandie always has had a passion for horses. Before meeting her husband, she was a medical assistant to a very busy family practice group. After starting her family, she decided to pursue her passion of animals and leave her fitness training background to go back to the medical field. But, this time, with the emphasis on animals. Brandie comes to Strain Equine Services with experience in the equine rescue world (focusing on horses of various personalities and backgrounds) where she adopted her own very busy minded OTTB mare, Top Park. Brandie’s family life keeps her extremely busy with her four kids (Maddy, Sam, Harry and Olivia), husband (Patrick), and fur babies (ex-racehorse, Topper; chocolate lab puppy, KC; calico cat, Piper; yellow bellied slider turtle, Jimmy). You can typically find Brandie either working, at the ball field or at the barn!
