Dr. Amanda Gruber was born and raised in Arnold, Missouri, just south of St. Louis. She attended William Woods University in Fulton, MO for her undergraduate studies, followed by veterinary school at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2018. She joined Strain Equine Services after graduation to pursue her goal of practicing equine veterinary medicine. Dr. Gruber enjoys riding her horse, Bien and spending time with her husband, Trevor and their two cats, Mao and Snickerdoodle.
Cherie was born and raised in the Kansas City area. She grew up around horses and enjoyed barrel racing. She was a small animal technician for 4 years prior to joining Strain Equine in 2009 as a technician and then moved to the office. When she is not at the clinic she enjoys spending time with her twin daughters Abigayle and Mackenzine, husband Nick and their herd of horses.
Kelly grew up near Chicago, IL. She met Dr. Sean Strain while he was doing his internship in Illinois. After Dr. Strain’s internship was over, she moved to Maine with him and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maine. In 2007, Kelly and Sean got married and a few months later, opened Strain Equine Services. Kelly has 2 children, Kaitlyn and Callen, and a lab named Rye. When she has free time, she enjoys going to the gym, spending time with family, reading and hiking.
Alexa was originally raised in New Jersey, she moved to Kansas 5 years ago after her great grandmother passed away. In 2015 she graduated from Tonganoxie High School and pursued a career in nursing. While in college she got a job as an emergency room technician. Alexa worked there for 2 years, before deciding to change her career path and leave human healthcare all together. She joined Strain Equine Services in summer of 2017 to fulfill her love for horses and taking care of animals. When she is not working, she loves to spend time on the farm with her two dachshunds, Pappi and Apollo, and two horses, Hank and Blaze.
Carly was born and raised in Neola, Iowa. She graduated in 2008 from North Dakota State with her Veterinary Technician degree. After graduating she worked at Veterinary Eye Specialists in Nebraska for 6 years. Carly started with Strain Equine in March of 2018. In her spare time she enjoys gardening and being with her two cats, Dora and Estrella.
